What is TSN?

 This is only the beginning

As you've probably already read in the other sections: The-Spectrum is in development.

The portals section was designed purely for The-Spectrum Network which will hopefully later on become a larger wide spread internet "network" of personal and community sites all bound together as one with The-Spectrum

As some have aksed "and why would people want to join this 'network' anyway?".. My response is as simple as the concept. I hope for The-Spectrum to become very popular and through this we can help other sites.

I see the internet as a resource, yes. As people put it the "information superhighway".. Unfortunately we have all come now to the point that we in fact agree this is a correct statement, but, where are the "highway exits"? Where is the address book?

A mass bulk of thousands of millions of sites put together cover every single aspect of life as we know it, and yet, it takes hours to find a site you decide to settle with until weeks later when you find one much better.

Why is this so? One can only assume that even with the best of search engines, the concept is destroyed as even though your site is indeed listed in the search engines you expect people will find it then. This is not so because there are a million other sites similiar to yours ALSO in the search engine, therefore the whole idea of individuality for your site is lost.

I hope to be able to find popular or new upcoming sites who enjoy the internet for it's true and original purpose and not commerce, and wish to join this network of sites.

Sure we've all heard of "webrings" and so forth before, but I don't intend to make a webring. Webrings can sometimes be lean towards commercial promotion and biased favour of other sites. And that is not what the internet is about. The internet was originally created as a free worldwide information resource, not a revenue raising outlet for commercial enterprises.

The state of the internet these days worries me more and more. I now have news that a popular PC gaming network has introduced a monthly member subscription fee so you can read the reviews. This is not all of it though: music, books, news sites, movies are all hopping on this band wagon and now users of this so called "free" internet are finding that they seem to need a credit card just to read an article now.

The internet.. The dream of a group of university students has turned into a minefield of banners and commercial adverisement. Wherever you turn you will see promotion for another sites products, you will see some sites that simply run for the revenue that the banners make for them.

Final note? It is sad.. And I with the help of supporters and members of The-Spectrum Network, intend to change the diminishing state of the World Wide Web.

Again, Thank you greatly for your support in our site. It is really appreciated.
